Farron White (they/them) started editing in 2003, specializing in medical content since 2008. They are committed to furthering conscious, inclusive language and to creating mentorship opportunities—especially for those of marginalized identities. Farron serves on the ACES: The Society for Editing DEI committee and led the task force that created the ACES Guide for New Editors. Farron previously developed an editorial internship program in collaboration with Andrea Klingler.

Farron was an inaugural member of the Diversity & Inclusion Assessment Task Force for the American Medical Writers Association and has sat on the board of their local civic association. Farron first became involved with social justice activism in 2002, eventually joining the Philadelphia-based Riders Against Gender Exclusion (RAGE; a trans activist group that advocated to remove gender stickers from transit passes) and Reclaim's Mass Liberation Taskforce (focused on racial justice).

Farron lives and works with disability and chronic illness, loves hiking and outdoor adventures with their spouse, and has three rescue cats who are perpetually getting into scrapes.

Shannon Scott (she/her) came to freelance editing by way of a 12-year career spent in military technical editing. A week after earning her Certificate in Editing from the University of Washington–Seattle in June 2021, she opened the doors to Sage Editing. Obsessed with getting in on the ground floor of story creation, she completed her Certificate in Developmental Editing of Fiction through Club Ed Freelancers in May 2025.

Shannon is a fiction story coach and developmental editor specializing in LGBTQIA+ contemporary romance and contemporary detective thrillers (especially those featuring queer protagonists!). She also offers  fiction manuscript evaluations to aid authors in building a solid draft before they start the editing process. She has an equal obsession with good writing, and longs to help writers improve their craft through fiction and nonfiction line-editing and copyediting.

A 2024 ACES: The Society for Editing Richard S. Holden Diversity Fellow and multi-VCON presenter, Shannon continues to pursue professional development opportunities through conferences, workshops, and courses. She is a member of Contemporary Romance Writers, and recently presented at their virtual conference as well. She also hosts weekly focused writing sprint sessions to encourage members in continuing their publishing journeys.

Three dogs make sure she doesn’t merge with her desk chair by demanding multiple walks a day. Lavender incense and a nice cocktail of medications keep her demons at bay. In her free time, she writes flash fiction and short stories for future publication, is in a solid relationship with her Kindle, and makes up for every nap she ever skipped as a child. Shannon lives with several neurodivergent diagnoses and is a vocal advocate of mental health support and awareness.

Stephi received her MA in Publishing, with an editorial concentration, from Rosemont College. In the past few years, her writing has been published in Strange Horizons, Publishers Weekly, JAMA, and Journal of Medical Humanities, and her series Great Asian Americans was published in 2018 by Capstone Press. She previously served as Chief Copy Editor at Student Media Company, Editorial Intern at Sundress Publications, and Fiction Editor at Rathalla Review.

She spends her limited free time attempting to multi-task between singing, creating guitar tabs, and researching miscellaneous topics.

Richard Martinez (he/they) is an award-winning editor, photographer and designer hailing from San Salvador, El Salvador. They are the former copy chief of Los Angeleno, an arts and culture publication that celebrated the various idiosyncrasies that define Los Angeles. Currently, they work for the Los Angeles Press Club, managing communications for the non-profit.

Richard is a former president of the LA chapter of NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists, and currently leads the chapter’s communications and events committees, developing programming that aims to build and strengthen connections among Southern California’s queer and trans journalists, news media professionals and creatives. Aside from advocating for the death of the Oxford comma, Richard spends most of their time staring lovingly at the 60 or so plants threatening to take over their house. They also do a bit of photography and print design when the stars align.
